Our Super Bowl LV (55) 2021 Party Plans
Welcome to the A Reel Cinema @ Home website. We wanted to share how we are having a fun, stay-at-home Super Bowl party. All the details are listed below. If you don’t have a plan of your own, feel free to use ours. We have done the work so you don’t have to. You’re welcome!
Super Bowl LV will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, February 7, 2021. We will watch the televised game on CBS at 6:30 PM ET. This year’s Super Bowl party is a battle of the quarter backs – Tom Brady versus Patrick Mahomes. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will wear white jerseys and the Kansas City Chiefs will wear red jerseys.
The entire 2020 – 2021 football season has been different along with every other moment in our lives due to the pandemic. The way we celebrate Super Bowl LV will be different too. While life must go on, we are making necessary adjustments for safety.
Let me be clear an outdoor party is out of the question for us. The weather temperature where we live is predicted to be -6 degrees on game day. Yeah, that’s a negative before the six. The low temperature of game day will be -17. Northerners are built tough by design, but we also have common sense. Remember what happened when Southerners visited the North for Super Bowl LII. “This is a different kind of cold! It’s hard to breathe cold.”
Our home theater is the perfect place to watch Super Bowl LV. Our big, comfortable recliner chairs, 135-inch screen, and lots of indoor heat is just the ticket. You can read an article about our football home theater woman cave at that link. The sound of our 7.2.4 Klipsch speaker system makes us feel like we are right in the stadium. We can lounge in our pajamas and head scarves with no worries. For us, this is the perfect way to watch the Super Bowl.
Most importantly, this year we will NOT be hosting any family or friends. We are having a fun home theater Super Bowl Party for two. That’s right – only two people – mother & daughter. Why? The many coronavirus variants circulating reminds us to continue to socially distance. The CDC has announced the safest way to watch the Super Bowl is AT HOME with people you live with. As of today February 2, 2021, 443,613 souls have died from coronavirus. We are not trying to help the variant make us numbers 443,614 and 443,615. We pray for everyone who has lost a loved one. Our heart truly goes out to those families.
Although we will only be a party of two, watching the Super Bowl at home can create fun and happy memories. We in the house anyway and look forward to celebrating the last football game of the season.
One of our favorite parts of watching the Super Bowl is good food and drinks. Since we are a party of two, we plan to make things simple this year. We are ordering take-out meals and pre-made dessert from our local bakery. We have a lot going on Super Bowl weekend so we determined it would be best to pick up a barbeque platter, a wing basket, and gourmet cupcakes.
For our barbeque platter, we will pick up a Famous Dave’s All American Feast for 2. We have had this feast many times before. I have included a picture of a past feast ordered. This platter of barbeque deliciousness has St. Louis style ribs, roasted chicken, and chopped pork for the meat selection. The side dishes include French fries, baked beans, corn-on-the-cob, coleslaw, two corn bread muffins, and an entire container of Famous Dave’s Barbeque sauce. We always order two extra corn bread muffins. This platter is $39.99 plus tax.
What’s a Super Bowl celebration without delicious chicken wings? We will purchase take-out from Wing Stop. Our favorite is the 30 -piece CLASSIC crew pack. We order a combination of 24 lemon prepper wings and six garlic parmesan. The sides include a large fry, veggie sticks, and 3 dips of our choice. We like a combination of 2 ranch and 1 blue cheese.
The key to ordering Wing Stop is to ORDER and PAY ONLINE AHEAD for a specific pickup time. If you wait to order at Wing Stop in-person, you will be waiting on your order FOREVER. You have been warned Wing Stop has long wait times without a pre-order. Especially, Super Bowl weekend! The price with tax is approximately $39.57 (your area may differ depending on your state’s taxes). Pictured below is a previous order from Wing Stop.
A sweet treat is necessary so we will visit our local bakery to pick up gourmet cupcakes. L&B cupcakes are not any ordinary cupcakes. They are the best with delicious flavors and frostings. Our favorites include: Salty Dog, Almond Raspberry, Lemoncello, Red Velvet, Peanut Butter Cup, and the Snickerdoodle. L&B bakery staff produces a moist and fresh cupcake. These gourmet cupcakes are not cheap at $3.99 each. With no time to cook or bake, we have no problem spending a little extra this weekend. Picture below are previous cupcakes we purchased from L&B.
We will wash all this delicious food down with the beverages we currently have on hand. Our home theater concession stand is always stocked with sodas, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. If we feel the need for something extra, we have a FEW bottles of wine on hand.
Even though we are keeping our party to two guests. We wanted to create a mock up invitation for Super Bowl LV. We create one every year and wanted to keep the tradition going. Click photo to enlarge.
We have a lot of Super Bowl decorations we can reuse from previous years. However, we like to add balloons with the current LV logo. As you know the Packers lost to the Buccaneers. We don’t have a dog in this championship game. We are cheering for both teams, so we are going to keep our décor neutral and order décor with the LV Super Bowl logo.
We found this kit on Amazon. It is perfect for our needs. We ordered this Party City kit from Amazon today so it will arrive by Thursday or Friday at the latest.
The kit includes: 1 center piece, 20 piece table scatter, 12 swirl hanging decorations, 1 banner, 1 Super Bowl mylar balloon, 1 Kansas City Chiefs balloon, and 1 Tampa Bay Buccaneer balloon. We will add two 50 ct. bags of red and blue balloons we already have on hand to this kit. We want our home theater to have lots of balloons as it adds to the celebratory feel of the day.
Our final share is we will pick up our food, party decorations, cupcakes, and other supplies on Saturday while we complete other errands. Picking up our food on Saturday then reheating in the oven allows us to avoid the crowds on Sunday. Take out restaurants will be packed on Sunday. Ain’t nobody got time for that! This Super Bowl party is all about safety. You cannot socially distance in a packed restaurant. We will avoid this issue by picking up our food on Saturday. We can simply reheat in the oven one hour before game time.
A party for two can be a fun and memorable Sunday. We hope this sparks an interest in planning your own safe at home Super Bowl celebration. Watching the Super Bowl at home and spending time with people you live with encourages pandemic safety and gives a sense of normalcy. We will enjoy our time at home. The Weeknd released a new album called After Hours and it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart. His ’80s inspired song “Blinding Lights” broke the record for Billboard’s longest-running No. 1 on its U.S. radio chart at 46 weeks and counting.
We love DJ D-Nice’s quarantine parties. His playlists are always hot. We were excited to learn DJ D-Nice is partnering with Instagram to DJ the official Super Bowl LV pre-game party.
We will log-in to Instagram Live at 5:00 PM ET on Super Bowl Sunday to jam to DJ D-Nice’s pregame set live from the Raymond James Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday.
After the big game, we will continue the Super Bowl party in our home theater. Amazing artists will perform an after-party concert to raise money for small businesses. All proceeds will go directly to LISC — the Local Initiatives Support Corporation on the ground in communities around the country delivering urgent funds.
