Frequently Asked Questions

You didn’t give the person who created the A Reel Cinema @ Home website credit?

It is interesting that you think “someone” created this website for us. Hmmm….interesting. Says a lot! We are educated and smart enough to handle it ourselves. So, the credit goes to us. No special credit notation needed. 🙂

Is your home theater and house always that clean?

Yes! Special shout-out to my mother for the good upbringing and ass spankings that encouraged my good cleaning habits that continue today. Well done mother! Well done!

Name a few movies you don’t like?

There are many movies we don’t like. There has only been one movie we thought was so horrible we literally removed the blu-ray from the player and tossed it in the garbage. In the Name of the King was a complete waste of our time. The movie stars heavy hitters like Jason Statham, Claire Forlani, Leelee Sobieski, John Rhys-Davies, Ron Perlman, and Ray Liotta. The CGI is the worst we have ever seen. The acting is horrible as well. We were surprised the studio funded sequels. In the Name of the King is seriously the worst film ever made.

A strong honorable mention goes to Disney’s Into the Woods. Into the Woods was checked out from our local library. We were shocked the Disney version was extremely LONG winded. By the end of the film, we just wanted everyone to get out of those damn woods.

Two hours and five minutes of the same song over-and-over is ridiculous. The films stars one of my favorite actresses Meryl Streep. Mrs. Streep’s presence in the film did not help. As a Disney fan (hence the home theater decorations), this hands down is Disney’s worst movie production ever. There was no need to toss Into the Woods in to the garbage. We were happy to return it as soon as the library opened the next day.

Do you have a movie rating system?

We do not have a movie or a television show rating system. No stars, numbers, or boxes of popcorn.

Movie criticism is extremely subjective, so we don’t criticize per se. Our enjoyment of a movie really depends on personal preferences and whether we were entertained. For example, we do not like horror films like Saw. We prefer suspenseful films instead. Movies are designed to entertain you. If we were entertained, then we probably enjoyed the movie.

Please check Our (Current Month/Year) Watch List links on the home page to see what movies, television shows, cable series, and streaming Broadway stage performances we are watching this month. We watch movies daily so check back often for our latest updates.

Why do you use profanity?

We have a large vocabulary but sometimes profanity provides the right emphasis to explain a situation.

Can I come over to watch a movie with you and your family?

HELL NAW! This is a home theater website with the key word being home. We only entertain family and immediate friends in our home. Our home is a private space that is not open for public use or display. We are very particular about the people we invite into our home.

While you cannot come to our house, you are invited to share our home theater passion with us online. We love to connect online with fellow home theater fans who also share a passion for sports, Broadway theater, physical media, television series, and streaming shows.

We have seen the security issues and frustration popular YouTubers have faced from online trolls. We have watched several videos of mentally unstable trolls and stalkers showing up uninvited and unannounced at popular YouTuber’s homes. We will not tolerate any foolishness – NONE.

Stalking aggression at our home will be met with the seriousness it truly deserves. Fuck the dog, beware of the owner! You need to know up front – WE DON’T PLAY THAT SHIT! We are not passive by any means. We will not give you a pass. Uninvited stalkers will be treated as immediate threats to our personal safety. We will defend ourselves accordingly.

Would you ever want to be paid to review a movie?

Hell yeah, we would! That would be our ultimate dream job. To review movies from home – not in commercial theaters. Look, if you haven’t noticed we love movies. It would be a privilege and a pure pleasure to get paid to do what we are going to do anyway.

How do you pick the movies mentioned on A Reel Cinema @ Home?

Our movie selections are based on a few simple things:

Other Reviews: We NEVER visit retail theaters. By the time the movie comes out on 4K/3D/Blu-ray, everyone else has already seen the movie and reviewed it. We make our selection based off reviewers we respect and trust.

Price: We have beer pockets and champagne dreams. Now, I know you are thinking “but you have a home theater.” Yes, we do but on a budget. We are the queens of 70% off sales. Red and yellow tag clearance/sales are the shit! We buy brand new but always on clearance/sales.

Honestly, many of our movie selections are based off what is on sale. Price is a huge factor in determining which movies we buy. It has to be a special movie for us to pay “full price” day one. The only movie in the future that would qualify for a “full price, day one release purchase” is Coming 2 America. Other than that, no more than $15 for 3D, $10 for 4K, $5 for Blu-ray and $1 for DVD.

Who paid you to create A Reel Cinema @ Home?

No one paid or pays us. Getting paid to watch movies would be the perfect full-time job for us. We don’t plan on turning nothing down but our collars!

We created the A Reel Cinema At Home website as an online outlet that allows us to talk about home theater and movie watching to other people who have the same passion.

You ever have a friend with a passion he or she loves such as model trains, horse riding, sports, card collecting, Bitcoin, etc. and they never SHUT-UP about it? That’s us! We never shut-up about the latest movie or the latest television series like Power Book II. Instead of getting on our friends’ and family’s last nerve, we connect with like-minded people who do care about the latest movie or Power Book II.

Is this website appropriate for kids?

A Reel Cinema @ Home’s website content is an online conversation between adults. This website is not appropriate for kids. This website is written by adults for adults. A Reel Cinema @ Home’s target audience is the grown and sexy who have a passion for watching movies, television shows, and sports events in their home theater.

We do watch movies that could be considered “child appealing” such as Marvel’s Cinematic Universe series. We do so from a nerdy adult perspective. Our website and YouTube videos show adult drink recipes, feature adult conversations, and events/parties with only adults in attendance. Every in our house is grown. No children allowed. Parents need a break too!

Why do you watch movies in 3D?

All movies should be made in 3D. If a movie has a 3D version, that is the version we want. Keep the 4K. We want 3D!

We are heartbroken that 3D is essentially dead in the United States but still very popular in Europe. This results in us importing most of our 3D movie titles from the UK. We strongly believe 3D enhances the movie watching experience. The depth of 3D immerses you in the movie and the pop outs leave us dodging, jumping, and reaching. If you haven’t seen Marvel’s Doctor Strange in 3D, you have truly missed a 3D treat. We are 3D fans for life!
