A Reel Cinema @ Home has used the Samsung BD-J6300 3D blu-ray player for years without any concern. The player came with an HDMI cable making it extremely easy to set-up in seconds. The menus are simple to navigate. The remote control is backlit and very easy to use. The box itself is black and looks sleek. The dimensions are 14 3/16” width x 1 5/8” height x 9 1/8” depth. The player is extremely lightweight at 2.65 pounds. The back has an HDMI, optical output, and ethernet port. The blu-ray player is quiet, and you don’t hear any unwanted noises during playback.

The blu-ray player has more features to it than we use. One of the features we do not use is the web browser. With this Samsung blu-ray player you could view online content on your television. You can also stream movies, download apps, etc. We do not need our blu-ray player to connect to the internet, so we have disabled the built-in Wi-Fi feature. Another feature we do not use is the smart feature. The smart feature works just like smart televisions. It uses the built-in Wi-Fi feature to stream content from services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and YouTube making a dumb television a smart television. Again, we do not need smart technology in every appliance we own so we have never used the Wi-Fi or smart features. This model supports blu-ray, blu-ray 3D discs, DVD discs, and music discs. It does not support 4K discs.

One of the features we do enjoy is the UHD upscaling. UHD upscaling gives low-definition content a quality boost. It upscales the picture quality to full 1080 resolution. We also like the USB port that allows us to connect an external hard drive to the blu-ray player to watch movies we have downloaded.

We purchased this specific player is for 3D capability. This blu-ray player works beautifully with our Epson 3D projector and Xpand 3D glasses to deliver a wonderful night of 3D movie watching. It handles 3D blu-rays movies extremely well. We are more than satisfied with the Samsung J6300.
