I was randomly watching YouTube videos as I always do early in the morning or late at night. I stumbled across a YouTube video of Ms. Anita Baker in concert. Ms. Baker is without a doubt a true legend. Her jazzy, soulful R&B style coupled with her unique, alto voice are unmatched.
I have every album produced by Ms. Baker. She has hit-after-hit song. “Caught up in the Rapture,” “Same Ole Love,” “Watch Your Step,” “Sweet Love,” and “You Bring Me Joy.” During the concert b-roll video interview Ms. Baker stated,
“If you listen to the jazz greats. They were great because of the fact that they interjected themselves into the song. To me that’s the difference between singing and sanging.”

That my Klipsch audio geeks is so true! Ms. Anita Baker is a soulful SANGER who inserts her unique performance style and raspy voice into each song. Her tone, her stage presence, and her band are always on-point. Every note is sung to perfection with perfect breath control that sends chills down my spine. What else can you expect from a songstress that SANG her way to gold and platinum status with each album.
As I watched the video on my laptop, I thought to myself what am I doing? I need to hear this. Really hear this! So I went into my home theater and replayed the same YouTube concert video so the audio could play through my 7.2 Klipsch surround sound system and the video project on the 135” screen.
The sound coming from my Klipsch speakers was amazing. Ms. Baker’s voice was great on my laptop but her voice from the Klipsch speakers was FIIIIIIREEE. I watched an energetic soul light up the stage with every song. Her voice was raw, pure, and immersive. As I watched the performance, I felt like I was right there in the audience at that very moment. I wanted to sing along but stopped myself. I wanted – no I needed – to hear Ms. Baker uninterrupted. Then this happened:
You bring me joy
When I’m down
Oh, so much joy
When I lose my way
Your love comes shining on me……
When I tell you I was done! I was done! Ms. Baker glided into a transition from “Same Ole Love” to “You Bring Me Joy” with pure professionalism and perfection.
She SANG..Lord she SANG! It was at that moment I gave the Lord a huge thank you for my home theater and its beautiful surround sound speakers. “You Bring Me Joy” is one of Ms. Baker’s signature hits. Ms. Baker’s vocals where fantastic.
Her background singers tho. Let me repeat that! I said, “Her background singers tho!” Her background singers ain’t never scared and didn’t come to play. They are the perfect complement to Ms. Baker’s voice. Ms. Baker is the definition of “REAL” singing with the grace and the class of an angel.
It was a wonderful experience as Ms. Baker’s voice filled the room via the Klipsch center channel. This performance reinforced why home cinema sound is just as important as the picture. The Klipsch speakers elevated her voice to new heights. The 7.2 Klipsch speaker system is a bulldog that produces a vibrant, high-quality sound for both stereo music and movie videos. I never thought of my home cinema as a concert venue but now I do.
