The year 2020 has been one hell of a year. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind the election held on November 3, 2020 will be one for the record books. Participating in the democratic process and receiving that coveted “I Voted” sticker is a top priority no matter what political party you associate with.
For us the election is very personal. We contracted, suffered through, and survived COVID-19. We lived to tell our testimony of survival. We have watched the President, Fox News, GOP leadership, and many talking heads lie about the seriousness of the virus causing 231,000 Americans to unnecessarily die from COVID-19. We have watched peaceful protest for equal rights and social justice. We have watched idiots loot, riot, and burn their own community. We have watched leaders, news stations, and politicians defend the indefensible. We have watched this country become the Divided States of America. Us versus Them, Red versus Blue, Left versus Right, Republican versus Democrat, Conservative versus Liberal. Some how American families have forgotten a country divided is easily conquered. We have watched fear be used as a weapon to create mass hate. Black people are not moving to your suburban neighborhoods to destroy them. Black families already own homes and have lived in American suburban neighborhoods for years. Suburban neighborhoods don’t need saving from African American homeowners and families.
Let me be clear about A Reel Cinema At Home as an African American family living in an American suburb. African American families want the same equal treatment — not better treatment. We also want to live free, to live safe, and to live in peace. We have the same goals of homeownership, safe neighbors, good schools, and employment as everyone else. We want to pay our bills on-time and worship as we choose. That’s American freedom at its best no matter the color of your skin. The racial diversity of this country is what makes America great.
America was founded on the principle of equality. As a proud citizen of America, we are heartbroken to see this country divided. We hope everyone votes and respects the outcome no matter which candidate wins. If you are reading this and you plan to be a part of the riots and foolishness on election night, please exit this website. We are not your cup of tea and don’t condone foolish behavior. We believe in PEACEFUL protest. We believe violence, rioting and looting are stupid, wrong, and hurtful to hardworking small business owners. We demand equity, freedom, and a right to vote without suppression.
We engaged in the 2020 electoral process by casting our votes early, in-person at our county election office. The entire process was smooth and took approximately 20 to 25 minutes. The only thing left for us to do is to watch the results over the next few weeks. We will be surrounded by patriotic decorations. We will enjoy food, drink wine, watch movies, and watch the election news after 11:30 pm on November 3rd.
We encourage all of you to know where your sons and daughters are at all times during election week until the results are accepted and one of the candidates publicly concedes. Ensure your children, nieces, nephews, and their friends are AT HOME under your watchful eye. Ensure your family members know you don’t want to attend a funeral because someone decided to be stupid during election week. STAY HOME. Make sure your family members are not part of any violence, rioting, looting, and unnecessary chaos. Rioting and looting does not solve any problems. Be safe and respect the democratic process. Vote early and do not mail in your ballot so your vote counts.
A Reel Cinema At Home will be watching movies all day until 11:30 pm. At 11:30 pm, we will tune into CNN to the watch the election news. We know the final results will take days in the record breaking voting year. The long lines show the passion of Americans for change. The voting process ends November 3 but the counting process doesn’t end until EVERY vote has been counted. All votes matter!
Either we will be extremely happy or extremely sad with the final outcome of the election. Nevertheless, we will enjoy a peaceful, quiet night at home like patriotic Americans.
Our home theater will provide the perfect environment for us to scream in celebration or break down in tears. The month of November 2020 will be another one for the HIS – STORY books as the final votes are counted.
