Every Thanksgiving morning, A Reel Cinema @ Home has a family tradition of watching the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC. This annual parade has been televised live from New York since 1952. The sample of Broadway performances, the high stepping marching bands, the high flying balloons, and colorful floats always brings a smile to our faces. This tradition is the only reason we wake up early on Thanksgiving mornings. Otherwise, we would sleep in because we have the day off work.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade will start at 9:00 AM Eastern Time on Thanksgiving Day. The classic line-up of entertainment includes The Rockettes of Radio City Music Hall, The National Cheerleaders Association, and the man – Santa Claus.

We even enjoy the terrible lip sync performances from Billboard artists during the parade. The artists mouth movements and song words are clearly a few lyrics ahead of the music. It doesn’t matter we still love the parade. The highlight of the parade is cast members performing from various Broadway shows. We all agree the Broadway performers have their lip sync and dance movements down pat. These performances are small samples of the full show, but we enjoy the talented artists. It’s amazing how they put together a two-minute performance that leaves us highly entertained every year.

The 2019 line-up of performances include:

Billy Porter

Black Eye Peas

Celine Dion

Chicago

Chris Janson

Chris Young

Ciara

Debbie Gibson

Idina Menzel

Kelly Rowland

NCT 127

That Girl Lay Lay

TLC

Watching in our home cinema with friends and family allows us to feel like we have the perfect parade watching spot in the middle of Macy’s Herald Square on Broadway and 34th Street – minus the New York traffic, crowds, cold weather, and/or rain.

We always enjoy a homemade breakfast buffet feast to start parade watching off right. This year will be no exception as we have a delicious menu planned. We like to create a breakfast buffet that includes many options to tickle our taste buds during the three hour parade. We have a wide selection of juice, coffee, espresso, and hot teas to wash down the filling breakfast.

A Reel Cinema @ Home’s 2019 Macy’s Parade homemade from scratch breakfast buffet includes:

Strawberry Banana Champagne Mimosa

English Breakfast Tea with Lemon and Honey

French Vanilla Medium Roasted Coffee

Homemade Buttermilk Waffles with Real Maple Syrup

Sadie’s Spicy Chicken Bites

Smothered Potatoes and Onions

Creamy Crockpot Grits

Maple Applewood Smoked Bacon

Fresh Fruit Platter

Vanilla Yogurt and Honey Granola Parfaits

Variety of Cereal with Almond Milk

Lemon Blueberry Muffins

Apple Cranberry Fritters

Three wonderful hours later, we clean up and review the online ads in anticipation of Black Friday Shopping. After hours of fighting the crowds, the real fun begins. We wash off the funk of retail therapy and wrap ourselves in warm, fuzzy pajamas. We settle down with friends and family for a wonderful night of movie watching and a nine course Thanksgiving dinner with wines to match each course. This over-the-top meal will rival most gourmet restaurants. It gives new meaning to the phrase dinner and a movie.

We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving! Eat, drink, sleep – repeat!
